Caroline Mae Dykstra Faidley, of Prairie City, Iowa, also known as Fuzzy and Auntie, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Park Centre, Newton. Visitation will be Friday, March 31 from 2 -7 P.M., with family present from 5 - 7 PM at Coburn Funeral Home, 201 S. Marshall St., Prairie City. Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, April 1 at Prairie City Christian Church, 207 W. 5th St. with burial following at Waveland Cemetery.
Caroline was born July 14, 1924 to Gerrit and Margaret DeHaan Dykstra on their farm near Pella. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1941 and married Wayne 'Wink' Faidley, September 12, 1946.
The couple was married fifty-three years and made their home on a farm outside of Prairie City. They enjoyed helping others, hosting friends, square dancing, listening to bluegrass music, and traveling.
In 1975, Caroline became Activity Coordinator of Clearview Manor. For over eleven years, families of residents appreciated her professionalism and the dignity she gave each resident.
For seventy years, Caroline was an active member of the Prairie City Christian Church. She also participated in Prairie City Historical Guild, Jasper County Historical Society, Golden Rule Club of Bear Grove, Clearview Manor Guild, and was a county election official.
Caroline's passions were flower gardening and expressing herself through poetry. One of her proudest moments came just last year, when her poem about her old red barn was published as a children's book, Hayropes and Hinges.
A tragic loss was the death of her daughter at birth; she overcame this by nurturing others.
Caroline is survived by nine Faidley nieces and nephews and their families, the Wagaman families including two goddaughters, Darci and Taylor, and first cousin, Lucille Groenendyk of Pella.
Caroline was preceded in death by her infant daughter, husband, nephews Robert and Derek Faidley, and dear friends Laurel Mae, Wayne, and Jim Wagaman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Prairie City Christian Church and Prairie City Rescue Assoc. Inc.
The family would like to thank her friends, Park Centre staff, caregiver Kristy, the nurses, and doctors who allowed her to enjoy a rich life.

Growing up down the road from Wink and Caroline was wonderful for my siblings and I. Caroline was so loving and nurturing and I remember baking with her. She made the best chocolate chip cookie bars!!! I have such fond memories of her loving smile and hugs. Rest In Peace special lady! Nancy Stiffler Lunn
Caroline was such a fine lady and a faithful caring friend to all. I remember Gaylene promising me if we stayed the night at Auntie's house she would let us eat pie for breakfast. We did and she did. She created a lot of fine memories for many people. She will be missed!
Lots of memories. She was a very dear person. My parents and I would go to visit her and her father on Sunday afternoon for coffee. So thankful Wayne's relatives took such good care of her when she needed it. Lucille Groenendyk
We are sorry for your loss of such a special person in your lives. May your memories be a comfort to you as you mourn her loss and celebrate her wonderful life. We are thinking of you.
I am very sorry for your loss, Caroline was one of the sweetest neighbors I ever had. She always had a little something for my kids when they would go over to visit. She always waved or stopped and would visit on her short walks. My family was so lucky to have gotten to know her and she will truly be missed.
What a sweet lady she was. Her and my dad went to grade-school together, dad always asked about her while he was in the nursing home. God be with you all today & always!
What a beautiful tribute to Caroline. She was and always will be a beautiful soul. Always smiling, quietly caring when she'd take your hand as she spoke. Hugs to all of that cared so deeply for her.
Such a gentle soul.
Our condolences to her loved ones.
