The son of Edward and Opal (Brown) Hodgson, Eddie Carl Hodgson was born on June 24, 1933 in Colfax. Eddie served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War. On January 10, 1953 Eddie was united in marriage with JoAnn Bell. Eddie worked for the State of Iowa in the State Revenue Office. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Eddie loved spending time with his good friend Duan Schroder. Whether they were going for a ride out in the country, getting ice cream, going to the wildlife refuge, or just visiting in the backyard, they always had a great time. Eddie cherished his Golden Retriever, Brandi Jo. They used to enjoy hunting together, but in later years, they enjoyed going for rides in the pickup or simply just being together. Eddie was a member of the Colfax Golf and Country Club and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Colfax.
Those left to honor Eddie's memory are his three children, Tony Hodgson and his wife Deb of Colfax; Joni Dille and her husband Bob of Colfax; and Jackie Soutter of Colfax; eight grandchildren; Andrea, Carley, Nichole, Brandon, Ashley, Timmy, Laci and Dylan; and one great-grandson, Dominic. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife JoAnn in 2008.
