Sarah L. "Sally" West, age 86 of Runnells, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, with burial following at Lowman Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. The daughter of Samuel and Ruth Marie (Davis) Grimes, Sarah was born on March 9, 1925 in Percy, Iowa. Sarah graduated from Swan High School. On March 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to James K. West. Sarah was a homemaker and enjoyed playing music, crafts, and loved camping with family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, James of Runnells, her children, Sharon Yazel of Mitchellville, Sandra Curry of Runnells, Marcia Lane of Runnells, and Bonnie (Dale) Jones of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grand children as well as a brother, Alvie Grimes of Des Moines. Preceding Sally in death were her parents, a son Jimmie Dean West, five sisters and two brothers.
