Biography

Candy M. Deitrick, age 43 of Colfax, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church. Visitation will be held on Friday January 27, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at church. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Candy Deitrick Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Donald Edward and Millie M. (Miller) Dobbs, Candy was born on May 19, 1968 in Chandler, Arizona. On March 31, 1990, she was united in marriage to Douglas Deitrick. Candy received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development form the University of Northern Iowa in 2009. Kids were her life. She was also a member of the Howard Street Christian Church.

Those left to honor her memory include, her husband, Douglas of Colfax; her three children, Leressa (Cody) Lamberson of Adel, Bryanna Deitrick and Jacob Deitrick of Colfax; her parents, Millie of Colfax, her father Donald of New Mexico; two sisters, Cindy (Randy) Woods and Carrie (Danny) Haney both of Colfax; and two brothers, Shane (Mary Jane) Dobbs of Minnesota and Shawn (Tonya) Dobbs of Monroe. Candy will be truly missed by all of us that knew her, her will in life and wanting to teach us that life is what you make it, words can't express how great of person she was to many people, but now she is in the greatest place known to man & god, we will join her soon. I'm sure she will save us all a place , may she now rest in peace and watch over the rest of us, my prayers are with you and your family . Hold your head high , Candy ( Mom) was a great person you all should be proud.

I first remembered meeting Candy when she was in Girl Scouts and I was a Leader and I would see her at different Girl Scout activities. Then she was in a class I taught for Child Care many years later. She was always so up beat and happy. I know she touched alot of lives and she will be missed. Rest in Peace Candy!

Love and prayers to Candy's family. She was my son's preschool teacher and you could tell she had a passion for children and was a wonderful teacher. I am so sorry for your loss!
