Obituaries

Randy Kevin Hopkins, age 49 of Colfax, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his home.  Memorial services for Randy will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Colfax at 2:00 p.m. with burial following at Colfax Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the church from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  A vigil service for Randy will follow the visitation at 8:00 p.m.  Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Jasper County Animal Rescue League.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of William and Mary (Guizzetti) Hopkins, Randy was born on December 14, 1960 in Iowa City.  Randy was a graduate of Colfax High School.  On June 22, 1996 Randy was united in marriage with Megan Lea Phillips at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.  Randy was a truck driver for many years, but when not on the road he enjoyed playing video games on the Nintendo Wii and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Randy loved his Italian heritage, but more than that he cherished time spent with his family, friends, and pets.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Megan Hopkins; siblings, Nancy Hopkins (Jim Fields), Bill (Ruth) Hopkins, Rick (Lee) Hopkins, Deb (Gary) Dunsbergen, and David Hopkins; mother-in-law, Barbara Phillips; sister-in-law, Brenda Phillips; brother-in-law Doug Gardner; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Randy was preceded in death by his father, mother, and father-in-law.
