Obituary:

Noma E. Brunner, age 102, lifelong resident of Prairie City, died Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at Mitchell Village Care Center of Mitchellville.  Funeral services for Mrs. Brunner will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Coburn Funeral Home of Prairie City at 10:00 a.m. with burial following at Vandalia Cemetery of Vandalia.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Coburn Funeral Home from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the Prairie City Emergency Fund or Prairie City Historical Society.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuenralhomes.com. 

 

The daughter of Josiah and Lydia (Rosenthal) Miller, Noma was born on July 23, 1907 in Ankeny.  On June 30, 1930 Noma was united in marriage with Cecil Brunner in Davis City, Iowa.  Noma worked as a homemaker and also had quite the green thumb.  People would travel to Prairie City to see her beautiful flower garden which encompassed the entire backyard.  Noma was also very good at canning and pickling food out of her garden.  Noma was a member of the Vandalia Church of Christ. 

 

Those left to honor her memory are daughter, Donna Russell and her husband Bob of Mitchellville; grandchildren, Steve Russell and his wife Deb of Cambridge, Iowa; Mike Russell and his wife B.J. of Colfax; Dianna Swihart and her husband Duane of Baxter; great-grandchildren, Sara Flattery of Baxter; Ryan Flattery, Van Flattery, both of Newton; Chase Russell, Colton Russell, Chelsea Russell, all of Colfax; Nathan Russell, Anna Russell, Amanda Russell, all of Cambridge; and one brother, Wayne Miller of Newton.  Noma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Gale Miller, Harold Miller, Russell Miller, George Miller, Chase (Bing) Miller, and Wendell Miller.


Memorials:

Memorials may be given to the Prairie City Emergency Fund or Prairie City Historical Society.



Visitation:

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Coburn Funeral Home from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.



Service:

Funeral services for Mrs. Brunner will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Coburn Funeral Home of Prairie City at 10:00 a.m.
