Obituaries

Henrietta Spoelstra, age 69 of Monroe, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at her home.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the Monroe Presbyterian Church, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery.  Visitation will take place on Friday, February 5, 2010, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Monroe Emergency Unit or the Monroe Recreation Park and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Bert and Ethel (Reed) Breen, Henrietta was born on January 26, 1941 in Monroe, Iowa.  Henrietta graduated from Monroe High School in 1959.  On October 1, 1983, she was united in marriage to Allen Spoelstra.  Henrietta loved to cook and try new recipes but her greatest love was her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory, her husband, Allen; a son Rodney (Angie) Moser of Monroe; two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Dalton; and three sisters, Blanche Crews of Newton, Margaret Klein of Monroe and Anna Mae Vickroy of Knoxville.  Preceding Henrietta in death were her parents, and a brother, Bert Jr.
