Obituary:

Frances Jean Steenhoek, age 65 of Monroe died suddenly on Friday, February 26, 2010 at her son's home in Kansas City. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Monroe. There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Robert Bruce and Kathryn L. (Steele) McDonald, Fran was born on April 12, 1944 in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1962. On October 12, 1962, she was united in marriage to Larry Dean Steenhoek at the Christian Church in Prairie
City. They lived in Prairie City for 29 years, moved to Pella for 11 years, then Joplin, Missouri for five years before moving to Monroe two years ago. She worked at Roberts Bros. in Prairie City for several years, and then went to work for the State of Iowa. Following her time with the state, Fran worked for Prairie City Schools and Pella Community Schools. Fran enjoyed cooking, Scrabble, flower gardening, feeding and watching birds; but her greatest love was her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory, her husband of 47 years, Larry; four children, Barbara Lancaster of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathryn (Phil) Clark of Monroe, James Steenhoek of Kansas City, MO, and Bradley Steenhoek of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Levi James Clark, Logan Dean Clark, Jamison Marie Steenhoek and Denali Rose Lancaster and a sister, Louis Ann (Duane) Crossett of Columbus Junction, IA. Preceding Fran in death were her parents, a sister, Kathryn Berstler and a brother, Robert McDonald, Jr.

Visitation:

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Coburn Funeral Home
in Monroe from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m.



Service:

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe
