Aftercare

Aftercare & Grief Support

Aftercare is a word we use to describe services following the actual ceremony. One of the most difficult parts about death is living without your loved one. While we won’t tell you it will be easy, we do offer support. Our belief is that a funeral home should be more than a place to have funerals. It should be the center of grief support and education in a community. Also, it should provide information to assist people with the transition loss creates.

Holiday Remembrance Service

The holidays can be a stressful time for anyone, but even more so for someone who has experienced a recent loss. We at Coburn Funeral Homes believe that it is important to recognize this and let our families know that we are still thinking about them and their loved ones. Therefore, we have begun a Holiday Remembrance Service, which will be held in early December at the funeral home in Prairie City. All of the families that we have served in the past twelve months, as well as their family and friends, are invited to this remembrance service and a social time following to visit with one another. If you would like further information regarding this service please feel free to contact us.

Lending Library

To help assist you and your family through the grieving process, we maintain a lending library including books and videos that address various aspects of death and dying. A sampling of topics include, but is not limited to: loss of a pet, death of a parent, death of a sibling and many titles on how to talk to young children about death. If you are interested in borrowing any of these titles please feel free to contact us.
