Betty J. Stripe, age 92 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, May 09, 2017, at Nelson Manor in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 12, 2017, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The daughter of Cameron and Della (Kingery) Hughes, Betty was born on February 3, 1925, in Percy, Iowa. She graduated from Monroe High School. On March 20, 1949, she was united in marriage to Carl Stripe, Jr. Betty enjoyed reading, embroidery and doing word searches. Those left to honor her memory include her children Carla Stripe of Monroe, Bruce (Gene Steele) Stripe of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Vanessa (Duane) Sloan of Monroe and Kerry (Lenelle) Stripe of California; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceding Betty in death were her parents, husband and two infant brothers.
