Bonita Kay Patterson, age 80 of Newton passed away on Monday August 11, 2025. The family will greet friends on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. A private family burial will take place at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Children Hospital and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Alfred Glen and Christa Birdeen (Stark) Locker, Kay was born on June 25, 1945 in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1963. On March 10, 1962, she was united in marriage to Paul Joseph Patterson in Newton. In her younger years she worked for Younkers in Newton ShoppingCenter. Until they closed. She then finished her career at Wal-Mart in Newton retiring after 25 years.Kay and Paul enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling until Paul passed away in 2011. But most of all they enjoyed taking their grandkids on camping trips.

Those left to honor her memory include her two daughters, Paula (Billie) Noah and Pamela (Lyn) Munson; six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Nikki) Ulrey, Stacey (Jason Jenkins) Kinsella, Lucas (Cassie) Wells, Kimberlin (Tyler) Annis, Haleigh (Bryan) Rees and Paige Munson; 11 great grandchildren, Kasey, Peyton, Ashlyn, Josie, Kaden, Arabella, Bexlee, Emery, Niko, Derek, and Tyler; a sister, Linda (Chuck) Templeton; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Larson. Preceding Kay in death were her parents, husband in 2011 and a brother Bobby Locker.
