Charles Thomas Foster (Tom), 75, of Newton, Iowa passed away May 9th, 2023 at Mercy-One Medical Center in Newton, Iowa, surrounded by family.

Tom was the son of Ernest and Virginia (Elam) Foster and was born on November 1, 1947 in Milan, Missouri. Tom moved to Prairie City, Iowa in 1968 where he met the love of his life Linda Vaughn. Tom and Linda were united in marriage on October 3, 1969. Shortly after, Tom and Linda welcomed two sons, Sean and Ryan, who they watched grow into the great men they are today. Tom owned and operated the grocery store in Prairie City for many years. After selling the store, Tom worked as a correctional officer until his retirement.

Tom's passion was his family and friends and he especially enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He loved playing cards, making sure his cars were spotless, and golfing at every opportunity.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife Linda Foster; son Sean (Hayley) of Marion, Iowa; son Ryan (Melissa) of Altoona, Iowa; and 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Camden, Lexton, Lauren and Colin.

Preceded in death were his parents, Ernest and Virginia; sister Linda; and brother Leonard.

The family would like to thank all those who have been a part of his life. Family is hosting a reception for loved ones to pay their respects on Sunday May 14th, 2023 from 3-5pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers and if desired please contribute to a memorial at Tom's favorite golf course Gateway Recreation.
