David Michael Parker, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at his home in rural Mingo. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at Greencastle Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. David was born to Robert and Mary Alice (Gannon) Parker on May 17, 1963 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He grew up on the family farm outside of Mingo, graduating from Mingo High School in 1981. Over the years, David worked in various construction trades, and mastered most all of them. His latest occupation was a farmer, working with his uncle Bill Gannon, on the Gannon family farm outside Mingo. David enjoyed golfing, playing cards, shooting pool and socializing with his numerous friends at the Greencastle Tavern. David is survived by sisters Helen Jones, Jean Parker (Maggie O'Dea), Susan Manning (Jerry), Mary Jo Parker, brother Edward Parker (Kathleen); nieces and nephews David Jones, Darcy (Jones) Schoenherr, Chris Manning, Patricia (Manning) Puente, Connor, Brennan and Kevin Parker; also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving is his loving companion Jess Bollenbaugh. He was preceded in death by his father Robert, mother Mary Alice and nephew Jonathan "Jake" Manning.
