Deborah Lou Day, age 78 of Colfax, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at MercyOne Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday August 7, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for Deborah's grandchildren. The daughter of William Andrew and Rosalie Mae (Dimon) Smith, Deborah was born on February 11, 1948 in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1966. Relished spending time with family, particularly during holidays such as Christmas, where she would decorate for each occasion and spend quality time with her loved ones. She dedicated her life to working at Smoked Craft, babysitting, and working at the Vernon Company, where she eventually retired.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Danette (Dwain) Jenkins, Stephanie Day, and Heather Milligan; four grandchildren, Jayce (Lexi) Jenkins, Jordan )McKinlee) Jenkins, Hayleigh Milligan and Dylan (Breanna) Day; great grandchildren, Landon, Rylie, Liam, Kelsi, Walker and Levi; her brothers, Doug Smith, Duane Smith, and Dennis Smith as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Dixie Northway and a sister-in-law, Pam Smith.
