Donald Eugene Tuinstra, age 86 of Prairie City passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie City United Methodist Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The son of Herman Eugene and Elizabeth Alice (Beyer) Tuinstra, Don was born on May 26, 1931 in Otley, Iowa. He graduated from Pella High School. Don farmed and worked as a car mechanic and car dealer for many years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Jerry Tuinstra, Joan Birru, Diane Hagerman, Sandra Thielen, Benjamin Tuinstra, Jessica Nolin, Jennifer Miller and Jamie Elam; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a sister, Sharon Chase. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Arlene DeJong; a son, Daniel Tuinstra; a granddaughter, Jordyn Arndt and a great grandson, Christian Clark.
