Edgar William Nickelson, age 76 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the Gathering Place in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monroe Public Library or the PCM Boy Scouts. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Joseph and Amy Irene (Lancaster) Nickelson, Edgar was born on August 13, 1948, in Indianola, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Barb Hume in 1976. He enjoyed working on anything with wheels and passed those skills to his boys, (whether they wanted to learn or not.) He never met a stranger. When he met someone he could remember not only your face, but your name. He will be missed by many...family and friends, from childhood, school, college, jobs, swap meets and car shows. The best times of his life was going to the drag strip to watch his son race while his other sons were on the pit crew.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Barb; three sons, Dan (Amber) Nickelson, David (Lacey) Nickelson and John (Kaila) Nickelson and eight grandchildren, Trent, Kate, Gracelyn, Donovan, Brody, Bryson, Ada and Mason. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Don.
