Gerald Gene "Gary" Beals, age 78 of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The son of Richard and Lois (Lind) Beals, Gary was born on September 30, 1947 in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1966. On December 21,1968, Gary was united in marriage to Lucretia Jane Richards. Gary proudly served and retired from the Iowa National Guard. He worked at Maytag in Newton. In his younger years he liked tinkering with cars in the garage. He loved his "68" Chevelle. He enjoyed times with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around him. We will miss his smiling face , and making us laugh.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Lucretia; a daughter, Heather (Duane) Loshaw; three grandchildren, Kyra (Coby) Sage, Elijah (Rebakah) Loshaw, and Calli (Drake Cherveny) Loshaw; five great grandchildren; a brother Michael (Myra Lewis) Beals and many other family and friends. Preceding Gary in death were his parents Richard and Lois, a son, Gary Beals, and a brother, Terry Beals.
