The daughter of Glen and Mildred (Snare) Frame, Golda was born on July 4, 1942, in Creston, Iowa. She was raised on a rural farm in southern Iowa and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1960.
After being stood up by Melvin Ingram for their first date, Golda gave him a second chance and the two finally went on a date. Three months later they were married on October 4, 1963 and spent 63 years together. Throughout her life, Golda - affectionately known as Goldie - filled many roles. She decorated wedding and birthday cakes, worked at the local Co-op and hardware store, was a farmhand, and worked many years at the Mariott Hotel. Above all, she was also a devoted cheerleader for her children and grandchildren, faithfully attending as many activities as she could. She welcomed many of her daughter's friends over the years and became like a second mom.
In the early years of their marriage, Golda and Melvin traveled throughout Iowa to attend Bluegrass Festivals - outings they enjoyed considerably more than their young daughters did. In 1995, they opened up Goldie's Ice Cream Shop where Goldie became a mother figure to many of the employees. She enjoyed the shop so much that when she sold it to Brad Magg in 2006, she continued to work there and be involved in the restaurant's growth. She officially retired in 2017. In their later years Golda and Melvin enjoyed spending winters in Arizona where they attended many jam sessions and musical events. They continued to enjoy music events in Iowa as well, along with an annual birthday visit to the casino.
Although many knew Golda through Goldie's Ice Cream Shop, she was also an avid reader and participated in the Prairie City Public Library's book club. One of her greatest pleasures was playing bridge with her friends each week - sometimes several times a week. Golda treasured time with her grandchildren, attending their activities and playing a very "noncompetitive" game of dominoes at every holiday gathering. Her wonderful cooking made family time even more special. She happily prepared whatever her grandchildren requested, which was most often her homemade chicken and noodles.
Golda was devoted to her church and community. She taught Sunday school, helped with Vacation Bible School and served on the Prairie City School Board. She was a member of Morgan Valley Christian Church until it closed, after which she became a Member of Prairie City Church of the Brethren.
Those left to honor Golda's memory include her husband, Melvin; two daughters, Karla (Ken) Tibboel of Aitkin MN and Kim (Eric) Crowdis of Clive IA; three grandchildren, Kendi (Anna Fager) Tibboel of Zimmerman MN, Kayla (Michael) Berberich of Springfield MN, and Trent (Ryan Palm) Johnston of Altoona IA; a sweet great granddaughter, Eleanore "Ellie" Ilene Berberich, as well as an honorary daughter Anne Bouchet (Stephane Milheres) of France and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings, Kenneth Frame, Glenna Eggert, Alice Whitmer, Martha Frame, Eugene Frame, Norman Frame and Howard Frame.
