Joan Marie De Groot, age 79 of Runnells, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Runnells Christian Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Lowman Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family or the Runnells Christian Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The daughter of Jessie and Nellie Stickler, Joan was born on September 9, 1942 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School and went to work for the Social Security Administration, retiring in 1986. On July 17, 1971, she was united in marriage to Donald Wayne De Groot at the Runnells Christian Church. She was a longtime member of the Runnells Christian Church and enjoyed sitting on her deck and reading. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Lisa De Groot and Billy De Groot; four grandchildren, Myles and Rylie Beattie and Jayden and Jordan De Groot; a sister, Mary (Merrill) Porter and a brother, Dick (Beverly) Stickler. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 2018 and three brothers, Gerald, Ralph and Joe.
