Obituary

The fairy tale continues...Layton Lewis Miller was born to Harry and Mae Miller at their home in Runnells, Iowa on June 19th, 1935. He was married to Norma Jean Crozier on February 17th, 1957, after five short months of courtship. To their family they soon added 6 children; Bert (Tom) Burns, Tim (Deb) Miller, Layton (Barb) Miller, Carroll (Lynda) Miller, Merrill (Colette) Miller, and Marquita (Jim) Utter.

They began their life journey in Runnells and made several moves before settling in Colfax in 2006. Layton wore many hats throughout his life to provide for his family. Layton was a volunteer firefighter for 30 plus years. He also drove a school bus for 4 different school districts over the 35 plus years that he drove. He especially loved driving all the activity trips. He blamed a lot of his "aches and pains" on playing and pitching for a competitive softball team until he was 54 years old. He was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church for 55 years. Layton loved attending his kids, grandkids, great grandkids and local youth activities. Even this past fall you could find him at a couple of high school football games. He never knew a stranger and could and would talk to anyone he happened across.

Layton is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, a brother and a sister, and 2 granddaughters.

He leaves a legacy of his 6 kids and their spouses, 34 grandkids, 56 great grandkids, 2 great, great grandkids and a sister.
