Lisa M. Dekowski, age 46 of Cedar Rapids, went to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 2, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. The church is located at 3233 Blair's Ferry Road N.W. in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends at a visitation on Sunday, May 8, 2016, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the church in Cedar Rapids. There will also be a visitation held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the First Assembly Of God Church in Cedar Rapids. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The daughter of Larry P. and Carole J. (Danks) Miller, Lisa was born on September 14, 1969, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1987. She went on to receive her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Iowa. Lisa taught in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District, retiring for health reasons a year ago. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids, Pi Lambda Theta, Vinton-Shellsburg Education Association where she served as treasurer, the Iowa State and National Education Association and also active in the Shellsburg PTO. Those left to honor her memory include her mother, Carole of Otley, Iowa; a sister, Jennifer Stevenson of Monroe; a niece, Charlotte and a nephew, Levi as well as her many relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her grandparents and father, Larry Miller.
