Luke Brandt Wilson, age 47, of Prairie City, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026 in the comfort of his home. The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at First Reformed Church in Prairie City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jasper County Fair. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Brian and Louise (Van Zante) Wilson, Luke was born on May 16, 1979 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from PCM High School in 1997, where he excelled at sports, especially football, wrestling and track, and at making friends. He participated in all that life had to offer with enthusiasm and fun with a side of shenanigans. Following graduation he had the honor of competing in the Shrine Bowl. Luke continued his football career along with earning a degree in Agriculture Business at Northwest Missouri State University, graduating in 2002. The years he spent there with teammates and friends continued to shape him into the man he was: always fun but a guy you just had to love.
Luke was united in marriage to the love of his life, Andrea Boeding, on October 4, 2008, beginning an amazing life together. To this union two wonderful boys were born, Barrett and Hayes, who were the absolute pride and joy of his life.
Luke enjoyed everything outdoors from farming and raising cattle to fishing, skiing, hiking and hunting. He loved steer wrestling during his years of rodeo or just riding out to check cows. Luke was passionate about his community, always willing to lend support or a hand. He enjoyed participating in all things, from fairs to parades, playing cards to cheering on PCM. In every facet of his life he seemed to be the center of the fun, or as some might say the "Instigator." Though he was fun-loving and liked to tease, he always made everybody around him know how much they were cared about. He loved his job as a Market Development Manager for Barenbrug USA. There he found another community of not just coworkers but lifelong friends. He loved the work he did and had so many experiences traveling for his company. He was passionate about agriculture, so doing it for a job made work fun and poured over to the life he loved on the century farm where he was raising his family. Luke was a member of the Pleasant Hill Country Church.
From the special time he would cherish with his niece and nephews to the adventures he looked forward to every year, he lived a full life. Luke's open and warm heart will be missed by so many. His family and friends were held in his heart every day and are what he wrapped his life around.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Andrea; two sons, Barrett and Hayes; his parents, Brian and Louise Wilson; father- and mother-in-law, Ron and Audrey Boeding; brother, Adam (Kim) Wilson (niece and nephews, Claire, Tad, and Finn); brothers-in-law Ron (Enid) Boeding (nephews Andrew and Ellis) and Ryan (Lia) Boeding. Preceding Luke in death were his grandparents, Francis and Ellen Van Zante and Forest and Winifred Wilson.
