Margery Luanne
Heffelfinger
Nov 15, 1936 — Sep 23, 2026
On March 18th, 2026, Jerry Heffelfinger was called to heaven. On September 23, 2026, he decided he had waited long enough for his wife to join him. And now, Luanne has joined her family of angels above.
Margery Luanne Hopp was born on November 15, 1936. She was the first child of Luella and Elmer Hopp. She was born at home near Conroy, Iowa. On December 30, 1941, younger brother Donald joined the family.
Luanne went to school at Conroy Community Schools from 1st grade through 12th. They didn't have Kindergarten, so she graduated in 1954. She did well in school and was musical, artistic, theatrical, and athletic. Luanne attended one semester at Iowa State University and started classes toward Interior Design.
On April 10, 1960, Jerry and Luanne married in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. On January 13, 1961, Luanne and Jerry welcomed their daughter, Jeri Ann. Followed by son Jeffrey on September 7, 1963.
Luanne was a stay-at-home mom until she entered the work force after Jeff started Kindergarten. She worked at The Pour Farm Ceramics near Collins pouring greenware, sold Vanda Cosmetics, and made birthday and wedding cakes. When the children were in high school, she worked at the Adventureland Inn Restaurant as a hostess and worked at Principal Life Insurance Company on 8th and Grand until she retired in 1994. Luanne became the treasurer for the Mingo United Methodist Church before retiring a second time from treasurer around 2014.
Luanne was active in her children's activities including girl and boy scouts (often a leader), watching them on sports teams and music concerts, and Sunday School teacher just to name a few. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and cards with her kids and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, all types of crafting, and ceramics.
Luanne also participated in many church activities including choir, cantata performances, vacation bible school, bible studies, Mary & Martha's circles, and many community outreach activities such as the Thanksgiving Dinners and Ice Cream Socials.
Left to live out her legacy are her daughter, Jeri Ann Heffelfinger; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bachman Heffelfinger; grandchildren, Jeremy (Elena) Heffelfinger, Hollie (Tyler) Finders, and Caleb Heffelfinger; great grandsons Asher and Kayden Finders; and sisters-in-law, Terri (Robert) Heffelfinger and Janet (Donald) Hopp, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and family.
Those who have gone before are her husband, Jerry Heffelfinger; son, Jeff; granddaughter, Lindsey; parents, Elmer and Luella Hopp; and brother Donald Hopp.
Services will be Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Coburn Funeral Home, 24 West Howard, Colfax, IA 50054. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am. Services begin at 11 am. There are no graveside services, but Luanne will be buried after the services at Graham Cemetery.
