Marvin Ray McReynolds, age 87 of Prairie City, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Comfort House in Pella. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren. The family will greet friends on Tuesday at the church from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Church of the Brethren, Comfort House Hospice in Pella or the Pleasant Hill Country Church. The son of Earl and Cleo (Waters) McReynolds, Marvin was born on June 25, 1938, at home north of Prairie City where he lived most of his life. He was the first of six children. On November 17, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marlene Kain at her home near Percy. Marvin was a farmer and took his work seriously. He was proud to be able to repair his own equipment and build his own buildings

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Marlene; two daughters, Mindy (Rod) Gorman and Mary (Kent) Vander Leest; five grandchildren, Eric Gorman, Heather and Chad Cline, Brandon & Kelsy Vander Leest, Kendra and Joe Rempe, and Koy and Kenzie Vander Leest and eight great grandchildren, Miles, Brenna, Hannah, Brielle, Klayton, Anna, Betsy, Josie, Kasen and Gavin. Preceding Marvin in death were his parents, brothers, Melvin, Loren Dale, and Allen and a sister, Zelda.
