Meredith Lee Van Zee, age 95 of Prairie CIty, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026 at 2:00 pm at First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. The son of Dirk "Dick" and Jessie (Van Den Berg) Van Zee, Meredith was born on September 17, 1931 in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1950. Meredith proudly served in the United States Army. On August 4, 1953 he was united in marriage to Beverly Huyser. To this union four children were born, Randy, Kermit, Karla and Roland. Following Beverly's passing on November 15, 2000, Meredith married Terri Van Ryswyk on May 27, 2006. Meredith was a faithful and lifetime member of First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Farming, faith and family were his life. In his later years he drove school buses for the PCM District for over 25 years. He also loved music and sang in various church groups.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Terri; children, Randy (Julie) Van Zee, Kermit (Mary) Van Zee, Karla (Kevin) Kincaid and Roland (Mary) Van Zee; six grandchildren, Kermit (Tracy) Van Zee II, Tammy (Dillon Woods) Benter, Govert Van Zee, Jessica Kincaid, Tim (Megan) Van Zee and Kim (Reece) Miller 13 great grandchildren and many other family and friends. Preceding Meredith in death were his parents, first wife, Beverly and a grandson, Jason Van Zee in 2014.
