Richard "Rick Morton, Jr, was born on April 25, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa. The son of Richard F. and Nelda Cherry Morton. He passed away on January 1, 2022 at his home in Antioch, California. Richard moved to California, with his family, at 7 months where they remained until the family returned to Iowa in 1974. Rick attended Mingo High School, graduating in 1984. He worked at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines until he moved back to California to be near his brother and his family. Rick received his hazard waste drivers license before joining his brother, Chris, working at US Steel. He remained employed there until his death. He loved his family. Especially Ashlee, Daniel, Eric, Mathieu and Kaylee. He is survived by his mother, Nelda Morton of Mingo, Iowa; brothers, Jack (Betty) Morton of MArion, Illinois; Greg (Heather) Morton of Swan, Iowa, Chris (Stacey) Morton of Antioch, California and a sister, Dawn (Jeff) Gladson of Mingo, Iowa. He is also survived by aunts, Patricia Kintz and Judy Pettinger, both of Des Moines and Patricia Reeves of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 15 nieces and nephews; 22 great nieces and nephews along with a host of cousins and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richar Morton, Sr. his grandparents anda host of aunts, uncles and two great nephews, Peyton and Liam Sparks. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Greencastle Cemetery near Mingo.
