The daughter of John and Vivian (Jones) Evans, Joyce was born on September 19, 1940 in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1958. On January 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Bob Brown. This January would have been their 60th Anniversary. Joyce worked as a secretary at the Colfax Tribune, Altoona Herald and Colfax Dental, retiring in 2014. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society and LaFemme Club. Joyce was very active in her church and her community. She loved tailgating for her Hawkeye's, shopping with her grandkids and always had to stop at Bath and Body. A trip to Grandma's always meant beef burgers, fruit salad, potato chips with dip and if we were lucky some of her cookies. She loved her coffee with friends and often could be found with a book or watching the Hallmark Channel. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Park Centre and Wesley Life Hospice for all of the care and compassion for Joyce during this time.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bob; two sons, Jeff (Darcy) Brown and Todd (Marianne) Brown; three grandchildren, Annie Brown, Rachel Brown and Grant Brown; three great grandchildren, Keaton, Paisley and Harper and a sister, Marcia (Don) Jordan. Preceding Joyce in death were her parents and a granddaughter, Samantha Brown.

MHCWJ. For years that abbreviation was in Dad's weekly email to we Millburn kids. It was short hand for Mom Had Coffee With Joyce. So even if we didn't see Joyce often, she was in our life because she was such a good friend to our mother, Luann. Joyce and Bob were regulars at our parent's frequent parties and I remember her laughter filling the room. She will be dearly missed by our whole family.
What a lovely lady has now joined Heaven! Our sympathy to Bob and her family!
What an incredibly kind lady. I am sorry to hear about her passing. Thoughts and prayers for the family. She always had a smile to share whenever I walked or biked past their house on the way to high school.
These are just some of the photos the family pulled of Joyce growing up with her sister Marcia, her married years with her husband Bob, times with her family, grandkids, friends etc.
I worked with Joycie for many years. She was a great coworker and friend. She would make me laugh out loud everyday. I loved her sense of humor and her stylish clothes. I am so heartbroken ❤️. Rest In Peace my friend. Until we meet again.
So sorry to hear about Joyce. She was a treasured friend of Mom’s. Their coffee dates were a highlight of Mom’s week. And Kathy, Mom and I had a very memorable cruise with Joyce several years ago! Mom will miss her so much.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Joyce’s family & friends.
I had the honor of doing Joyce’s hair every Thursday for over two decades. As many hairdressers say, our clients become more than clients. We spend more time and share more memories and information with them than we do our actual family.
I feel like I know every single person in your family. I may have never seen your face but I know I have heard a story or two about every one of you. Never once did I hear one bad comment from her. Joyce was always positive and happy no matter her circumstances. I wish everyone of my clients were more like Joyce!
I love and will miss Joyce very much. There will be an empty spot in my heart every Thursday at 1:00.
Until we meet again❣️
Joyce was a sweet lady. She always had kind words for me when we'd see her in church. Every time my children were servers she'd thank them and tell them how great of a job they did. Our thoughts and prayers with you Bob and your family. Tony and Robin Brierly and family.
May God Bless the family at this time. Joyce and I had many good times growing up. It was always nice to come back home and get together with all the class of 1958. She will be missed.
I always enjoyed seeing and talking with Joyce. She was a great lady. I remember both of us being with the press during Pope John Paul II's visit in '79.
So sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. She was ahead of me in school, but was good friend, we even detassled corn one year . Our prayers are with her family. Gary and Patty Reed, Winder, Ga.
